NIA: 5 SIMI members convicted in Bijnor IED blast case

NEW DELHI: On July 2, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Lucknow convicted 5 members of the banned organization SIMI for committing terrorist attacks and sentenced all of them for their absurd crime in the 2014 Bijnor blast case.

On Thursday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) sentenced Haseena, Abdulla, Raees Ahmad, Nadeem, and Furkan, residents of Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh. The convicts have been sentenced from 10 months, three years to a maximum of 7 years as per their offences.

The criminals have been sentenced under Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) and a fine under section 120B of the India Penal Code (IPC) along with seven years with the fine under section 13 of the Unlawful Activities Act 7 years RI with a separate fine under section 21 of UA (P) Act.

This case was first registered by Bijnor Police which also registered various FIRs in the same matter on September 18, 2014. And later, it was re-registered by NIA on April 30 2015, and November 12, 2015.
