CGHS Card: The Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) is a health facility programme for pensioners who are currently employed by or were formerly employed by the Central Government. Eligibility Criteria for Central Government Employees

A Central Government employee's eligibility to receive medical care under the Central Government Health Scheme is governed by a number of rules, as stated on the CGHS official website. This programme is available to central government officials and their families, etc., who reside in any city that has been informed.

Cities with CGHS Service

Eighty cities have access to CGHS service. Recipients of the CGHS who reside in these cities are eligible to participate in this programme.

Cardholders of CGHS are eligible for free care at any AIIMS

  • With a valid CGHS card, cashless treatment at AIIMS is available to CGHS retirees and other recipients, including past governors, MPs, judges of the Supreme Court of India, judges of High Courts, independence fighters, and others.
  • The CGHS card indicates the ward's eligibility as well as its validity.
  • A dedicated desk will be set up by AIIMS for CGHS beneficiaries. At the CGHS desk, the qualified CGHS recipient can present their CGHS card for validation.
  • Beneficiaries of the CGHS who qualify can validate their card themselves. A copy of both the patient's and the family member's CGHS cards must be submitted in the event that a dependent family member is receiving treatment. CGHS will check the card details against the CGHS database after consulting with NIC.
  • In the final week of AIIMS month, a physical bill and a copy of the CGHS card must be turned in to the office of the Additional Director, CGHS of the relevant city.
  • For the purpose of paying CGHS bills, AIIMS will open a distinct bank account for beneficiaries of the programme. Bills must be paid in full and deposited into the bank account that AIIMS set up for CGHS.
  • In addition to CGHS pensioners, other eligible individuals can also benefit from cashless treatment.
