Corvette E-Ray vs Nissan GT-R: Two performance cars compared on specs & features, see which one is better

Corvette E-Ray vs Nissan GT-R: Fans of the new Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray are divided; for some, it represents an evolutionary stride into the next generation of Corvette rapidity while for others, it is an unacceptably radical shift. In any case, the new hybrid Corvette is the fastest 'Vette ever and is aiming after other supercars. The Nissan GT-R, a subtle track-day weapon with supercar speed and grand tourer functionality, enters the picture. Let's compare both of these mean machines and see which one is better.

Corvette E-Ray vs Nissan GT-R

Top speed and acceleration

Compared to its rivals, the Nissan GT-R is subtle, but don't let that fool you into believing it can't keep up. Nissan's AWD GT-R can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in under 3.0 seconds. The Corvette is even quicker to 60 mph than the GT-R, so it's not the only vehicle in the sub-three-second club.

Without the help of the E-eAWD Ray's system, the Z51-equipped C8 Corvette Stingray will sprint to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds and complete the quarter mile in 11.2 seconds. The flat-plane crank V8-powered Z06 will also complete the same distance in 2.6 seconds with a 10.5-second quarter-mile.

Of course, unlike the RWD Corvettes that came before it, the forthcoming E-Ray has four wheels that have grip. Chevrolet claims that the new E-Ray will accelerate to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds, making it the fastest Corvette to date.

Why is GTR so powerful?

The 2023 Nissan GT-R has a power output of 565 hp and a torque output of 467 lb-ft. Its AWD system receives power from a twin-turbocharged 3.8L V6 engine. Want more? A comparable engine powers the GT-R NISMO, which generates 481 lb-ft of torque and 600 horsepower.

The new E-6.2L Ray's LT2 V8 and 160-horsepower front-mounted electric motor combine to create 655 horsepower. Of course, it will be interesting to see if Nissan offers a volcano hybrid version of its upcoming GT-R model.

Price

Starting at about $115,435, the 2023 Nissan GT-R is offered. The 600-horsepower NISMO will also cost about $212,635.

Compared to the Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray, the Nissan variant is significantly more expensive. The starting price for the base E-Ray is around $104,295 for the 1LZ Coupe. The E-Ray 3LZ Convertible, which is at the opposite end of the spectrum, will cost little more than $120,000 before upgrades.
