Telegram hits back at Meta-owned WhattsApp

Telegram markets itself as an encrypted messaging platform that offers end to end encryption (E2EE) for calls and chats. However, Whattsapp Chief Cathcart has its own criticism of Telegram’s implementation of E2EE. Cathcart has stated that these claims have not been independently verified and there are several flaws in the messaging App such as it is not enabled by default and E2EE is not available for group chats.

Telegram has produced a list of nine errors in the Wired article that can be found on telegra.ph, a per the GSMArena report (a minimalistic publishing tool by Telegram). "This list is being expanded," the message ends.

Cathcart writes in his Tweet,

“They (Telegram) have built another API that seems to allow access to user content for mass surveillance."

Telegram Premium crosses 1 million subscribers

The firm revealed in December of last year that Telegram Premium, the paid membership service from the encrypted messaging platform Telegram, had surpassed 1 million customers. This occurs about six months after Telegram began seriously pursuing monetization and introduced the paid subscription service.

More than 700 million people use the cross-platform, encrypted, cloud-based messaging network each month (MAUs). In most other areas, the cost of a Telegram Premium subscription ranges from $5 to $6. It costs approximately Rs 180 in emerging markets like India.

Pavel Durov has said in a statement,

"While it still represents just a fraction of Telegram’s overall revenue, Telegram Premium is growing steadily every day, and one day may even rival our ads,"

Anyone may get more resources, speed, and functionality with Telegram Premium. Other unique features include linking up to 4 accounts to the app, creating up to 20 chat folders with 200 talks each, and pinning up to 10 chats.
