BUSINESS Peegate: Tata Sons Chairman; Prompt response was needed; let down by sluggish approach Nikhilesh Kunal Jan 08, 2023 12:26 GMT Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekharan admitted that Air India’s response to drunk flyer urinating on a women should have been prompt. He was referring to recent incident which has caused mass societal outrage in which a passenger named Shankar Mishra in an inebriated state , unzipped his pant and urinated on an elderly women in the business class of New York Air India flight. Later Shankar Mishra pleaded the women not to the report the matter to the police , as it would impact his wife and child. Tata Sons Chairman: Response should have been prompt In a statement Tata Sons Chairman stated “ Air India response should have been much swifter. Air India just made a police report this week, claiming that because "no additional flare-up or altercation" occurred and because the crew decided not to notify law enforcement upon landing, following the apparent wishes of the female passenger. Mishra was prohibited from flying for 30 days, which outraged social media users who claimed it was insufficient. Six weeks after the event, on Friday, the Delhi Police detained Shankar Mishra. Later, a Delhi judge committed him to judicial detention for a period of 14 days, ruling that additional inquiry did not call for police custody.
