Ex Twitter employee gets into a verbal spat with Elon Musk, the reason will surprise you

Since Elon Musk took over Twitter, their has been mass layoffs in the company. Now Elon Musk finds himself into anther spat , after an ex-employee kicked up storm on Twitter by complaining that he has been ghosted by his company.

Haradular Thorleifsson recently discovered that he was locked out of his computer without being told why or receiving notification that he had been fired. He waited nine days for Twitter's HR department to respond, leaving him uncertain of his work status.

Thorliefsson turns to Social Media and reaches out to Musk

He resorted to social media and asked Elon Musk for assistance in his quest for an explanation of why he had been fired.

Write Thorleifsson who goes by a Twitter name Halli,

“9 days ago the access to my work computer was cut, along with about 200 other Twitter employees. However your head of HR is not able to confirm if I am an employee or not. You’ve not answered my emails. Maybe if enough people retweet you’ll answer me here?”

The situation, however, deteriorated as Musk repeatedly disparaged Thorleifsson's employment status on Twitter, questioned his value to the company, and disregarded the fact that he had muscular dystrophy.

Replied Musk,

“The reality is that this guy (who is independently wealthy) did no actual work, claimed as his excuse that he had a disability that prevented him from typing, yet was simultaneously tweeting up a storm. Can’t say I have a lot of respect for that,”

Thorleifsson was upset by insensitive remarks Musk made on Twitter, so he used the chance to inform him and the rest of the Twitter community about the challenges he faced as a result of his muscular dystrophy. He went on to take pot shots at Musk after explaining how his health prohibits him from accomplishing certain tasks by saying that despite being physically fit, he needs security to accompany him to the toilet.

 “Oh! I forgot to mention that I read you can’t go to the toilet on your own either (Elon Musk) I’m sorry to hear about that. I know the feeling.”

Social media users have become quite vocal about the Thorleifsson public dispute, supporting Thorleifsson and denouncing Musk's inappropriate treatment of a former employee.

Musk changes his mind after backlash

“As someone who has worked directly with Thorleifsson during a turnaround, this is super disappointing to see. Not only is his work ethic next level, his talent and humility are world class. Exactly the kind of person you want on your team when the odds are stacked. I feel certain there’s a deep misunderstanding somewhere in here of “did no actual work.” 

Musk had originally planned to connect by tweet, but after the backlash, he changed his mind and chose to video call Thorleifsson in order to better understand the situation.

Revealed Musk,

 "I would like to apologize to Halli for my misunderstanding of his situation. It was based on things I was told that were untrue or, in some cases, true, but not meaningful. He is considering remaining at Twitter,"
