MG Motors Plans to Bring Its Third Electric Car to India; Check Launch Timeline and Other Details

MG Motors: Despite being a newcomer in the industry, MG Motors has made its name in the Indian auto market. MG Motor India has been actively involved in the electric car market with a selection of high-end, well-built cars. The company now has products like the Comet and ZS EV. Now, the automaker is all set to launch its third electric car into the Indian market as the festive season draws near.

MG Plans to Launch Its Third Electric Car

Indian customers are becoming more and more interested in improving their experience as vehicle owners. Electric cars have gained popularity because they are environmentally friendly, perform well, and match consumer preferences. Though they now make up only 2% of all passenger cars sold in India, EV sales are expected to rise significantly over the next several years in India.

The industry expects that by the end of the decade, EV sales may make up 15% to 20% of the market. Several Indian original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) are preparing to launch new cars across a range of segments with an emphasis on electric vehicles. MG Motors also has to register better growth rates in the dynamic landscape of the Indian auto market.

Rajeev Chaba, MG Motors MD Confirms EV Launch

The MD of MG Motor India, Rajeev Chaba, has formally announced that the automaker will introduce a new electric vehicle later this year. This EV could be the first car to carry MG's branding in India when SAIC Motor, MG Motor's parent company, and the Sajjan Jindal-led JSW Group entered into a strategic joint venture. It represents a major step forward for MG Motor in its India growth plans.

MG Motors EV Plans: All You Can Expect

With the debut of a new electric car planned for the festive season of 2024, MG Motor India plans to double its portfolio by the end of 2025. Upcoming offerings of MG Motors include the MG4 electric hatchback, MG5 electric estate car, or Mifa 9 electric MPV as seen at the 2023 Auto Expo.
